Popcorn and Woven Blankets

One of my favorite things to do when the weather is cold and gray, is spend time with my family, cuddled up under warm blankets, watching a movie with a big bowl of homemade popcorn.

My favorite is white popcorn, and I love to air pop it and drizzle a little real butter over the top and sprinkle on some sea salt or parmesan cheese. I also like making it the old fashioned way, on top of the stove in a pot with a little oil. With the weather turning colder its time for me to stock up on popcorn.

Another important aspect of movie watching is a good blanket. I love
blankets, if I see a good deal on one, I can hardly pass it up! All of the new fuzzy cuddly blankets in the store, the ones rolled up, and in such pretty seasonal colors just draw me in, and I buy them whenever they are on sale. I love giving them as gifts for the holidays.

But my all time favorite blankets, are the woven beach blankets I buy every time I go to the beach. Every year when we take our summer beach trip, I go to the same store, and buy the new patterns that catch my eye. They make a wonderful souvenir, because they are very inexpensive, and extremely useful. These blankets hold up on the beach, hold up at school football games, anytime we need a sturdy blanket, we grab one of our woven blankets. I love all of the colors, and look forward to finding new patterns every year. I always have a few nearby to cuddle up with while watching TV or reading a book.

Here is our blanket collection. I just love them!

Here are my two blanket loving labs- they love to cuddle up and eat popcorn with the whole family as well!

Here's our wonderful old girl Xena, she is such a sweet cuddly dog, she spends a lot of her day cuddled up with pillows and blankets.

Here's our Young Lab Zoey, She is full of puppy energy, and loves to play. She loves blankets, she curls up in a little ball for a nap, but when she is awake she like to drag around a blanket like a toy, and unfortunately has loved some so much they were loved to shreds, but who could be mad at this little cutie- not any of us :)

Slowly but surely I am getting the house decorated for fall, here is the most recent cabinet top I decorated with some of my favorite Halloween figurines.

Here is a little Halloween bendy doll witch that I made using instructions from the book Felt Wee Folk: Enchanting Projects. I decorated the dress with a basic chain stitch pattern. Her hair is made of dyed wool. I love making these little dolls, and one day I hope to make all of the fairy tale characters as bendy dolls. Sorry for the lighting, the flash was not picking up on the wool colors, so I went with no flash, and it is a bit gray out today, so not a ton of light.

My little bendy Witch doll.

Here is the back of her cape.

Well, I am off to do some more fall cleaning and decorating, hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

  3. Nothing nicer than popcorn, a good movie and a snuggly blanket! Isn't it funny how pets have their favorite things? They really are quite sentimental creatures!

Jane~ It is interesting how Dogs have their favorite things, and favorite spots to lay down, and favorite treats and toys. They are pretty sentimental- I really enjoy that about my dogs :)
